Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is a maintenance strategy aimed at extending machinery life, increasing productivity and lowering your daily operating costs. Unlike planned maintenance (PM) where services are based upon scheduled intervals, CBM relies upon actual machine health to dictate when and what maintenance is required.
CBM is based on using real-time data to prioritize maintenance resources to determine a piece of equipment’s health and perform maintenance only when maintenance is actually required in order to minimize the risk of downtime and spare parts costs.
CBM is performed while the asset is working causing no disruptions
to normal operations.
? unscheduled downtime due to catastrophic failure
? time spent on maintenance
? overtime costs by scheduling the activities
? requirement for emergency spare parts
? Consultancy and support in achieving CBM certification with classification authorities such as ABS or Lloyd’s register
(CBM is the only way to estimate exact period for class survey of the vessel)
? Expert advice and support by our experienced engineers
? Reduced class intervention
? Optimizes maintenance intervals - more optimal than manufacturer recommendations
? Extends the life of particular parts based on prolonged service time
